One thing readers should note about our list of the best 25 songs from 2007 is that these songs were not necessarily released as singles and we do not necessarily consider these songs as the literal best from their respective albums. These songs were chosen for their catchiness. For example, we clearly realize that Arcade Fire’s “The Well and the Lighthouse” was not the “best” song from Neon Bible. That honor should probably go to “Intervention” or “No Cars Go.” We do, however, think “The Well and the Lighthouse” was perhaps the catchiest song on the album. So, these are the songs that would be playing on the radio if we lived in a just world where Clear Channel wasn’t in cahoots with the record companies dictating what we must listen to and just how many times a day we must hear the new Nickleback song. |
